Job ref: **SG/46038** Our client is a growing and dynamic organization; a world leader in the production of specialty chemicals, polymers, fibres and textiles. Their high technological innovation has led to the extension of the Company’s resin range for food packaging, building & construction, automotive and industrial applications. To further continue this expansion, they now have a new opportunity for a Market Development Engineer with a great interest in the food packaging industry. The successful candidate will be based at their offices in Antwerp and this role reports directly into the Market Development Director. Applications are welcomed from either candidates with market sector experience or graduates with an interest in the food packaging arena. **The Role:** * Lead and manage EMEA market development projects * Perform research and analysis into their strategic markets segments to better understand market specifics, trends and to detect potential commercial opportunities * Anticipate market needs, define action plans and follow up their implementation with all parts of the internal organization and the external markets * Create a market stream by utilizing contacts through the supply chain and anticipating market trends for their resins business and related products and services * Cultivate an in-depth understanding of the value chain in the EMEA market and effectively build external relationships with identified value chain partners relating to their defined strategic business goals * Develop an extensive network in the packaging industry and build relationships with stakeholders in the value chain (converters, brand owners, recycling industry) * Promote products/solutions and develop lead generations aiming at creating new business opportunities * Gather together all the internal stakeholders (sales, technical service, R&D) to reach the defined strategic business goals. * Spend significant time in the field by attending relevant trade shows, conferences and exhibitions and participating in working groups at industry associations
* A university degree in chemistry/chemical engineering /polymer science * Working experience and engagement in the packaging/plastics industry * Able to identify opportunities and unique selling proposition for their products * Able to translate end-customer (brand-owners and other stake-holders) requirements into technical and market expectations * Willingness to travel frequently (max. 50%) * Willingness to learn * Fluent in English. Skills & Competences: * Project Management and leadership skills – you communicate with different stakeholders on project progress and ensure timely actions against potential gaps and issues. * Communication and soft skills – ability to communicate value propositions in B2B sales environment, to effectively collaborate with different functions and nationalities, to convince and motivate colleagues, internal and external stakeholders and to negotiate, strong relationship building capacity * Creativity and innovation – you are a blue sky thinker (entrepreneurial), who can think outside the box.
